Small papillon dogHaving a dog can be a fantastic addition to your family. Dogs are intelligent, loyal companions, and sometimes playful. A disobedient/untrained dog can become a nightmare rather quickly. The neighbor’s complaints and worrying about the next person he/she will nip can put a damper on your daily life.

Training would help improve your dog’s behavior and put your mind at ease. It is important to begin training your puppy at around two months old. If you hesitate, you could make training your dog more difficult. Some general guidelines are followed when training any breed of dog. A few training tactics will vary slightly depending on the breed. For instance, Labrador’s are considered a very intelligent breed. The training for a Labrador puppy would be somewhat more intense due to their intelligence level. Some have said that training a Labrador puppy is easy.

No matter what the breed, if you enroll your puppy in an obedience class, training will be easier. It is important to remember to continue the training at home. Crating and potty training are things you can do with your puppy.

Always follow basic puppy training principles no matter what the breed. You will want to start with littler things and slowly integrate demands that are more complex. If you have an energetic puppy, be sure to incorporate exercise in your training regimen. Always reward your puppy when he/she is good, and be sure to show disapproval when he/she is not. A common mistake made by owners is to punish the puppy by crating it. In doing this, your puppy will associate their crate as being negative, or a punishment. Leash training is another difficult task to accomplish. It requires that you practice frequently. Remember, consistency is the key to success. Training your puppy will help to build the bond between you and your new best friend.

There are varieties of materials you can access about training your puppy. With today’s technology, you can obtain these materials while comfortably relaxing in your recliner. Get on the internet and you will have the ability to read articles, watch videos and sometimes ask advice from a trained professional.
